Benefits

Supports brain health1

DHA is a long-chain Omega 3 fatty acid which is found in cell membranes throughout the body. Having adequate levels of DHA is essential for efficient communication between nerve cells.5

If messages cannot be transmitted between nerve cells efficiently, this can affect processes in the brain and throughout the body, limiting normal function. DHA is essential for growth and functional development of the brain in infants and is also required for maintenance of normal brain function in adults.

Supports cardiovascular health2

Research studies support the use of EPA and DHA Omega 3 fatty acids as cardio-protective nutrients.6-7-8 Higher intakes of these important Omega 3 nutrients are associated with reduced risk of cardiovascular problems.9 They are also thought to contribute to normal levels of triglycerides throughout the body as well as support cholesterol levels.10

Supports vision and eye health3

DHA contributes to the maintenance of normal vision; DHA is found in a high concentration in the retina in our eyes and is significant for visual development and retinal function.11-12-13

Supports skin4 & hair health14

Omega 3’s have been shown to regulate the skin’s oil production15, improve balanced hydration16, and help to support the skin against the ageing effects of UV rays17. Omega 3’s help to promote skin barrier function, reducing water loss and protecting skin against damaging external toxins16. Omega 3 supplementation has also been shown to have great results on dry, rough skin18.

Research has also shown that supplementing Omega 3’s may help to promote healthy hair.14 Omega 3’s may help to support the hair follicle and scalp19, encouraging the growth of healthy hair19. Recent research also indicates efficient support for hair growth and thickness, and reduced hair loss20, whilst taking an Omega 3 supplement.

Supports mood

Omega 3 fatty acids (DHA and EPA) have also been shown to improve mood21. This could be because of the anti-inflammatory22 action that Omega 3’s have, and also that Omega 3’s are able to access brain cell membranes and have a positive effect on mood by boosting serotonin levels23.

Is Omega 3 from Algae more potent than fish?

Yes: Needful Omega 3 is taken directly from the source (algae), rather than through fish oils. As plant-based omega sources are generally free from heavy metals and toxins, this is healthier for the body and can result in the fatty acids being metabolised more efficiently.

Algae is the primary and most potent source of Omega 3, which is where fish get their Omega 3 from. Algae is much lower down the food chain compared to fish and so it provides a more efficient and sustainable source of Omega 3 for humans.

Our algae oil provides 1000mg of high-strength Omega 3. In comparison to alternative plant-based sources (flaxseeds, chia seeds, rapeseed oil), algae oil still provides a superior level of Omega 3.

What is Algae and how it is grown?

Microalgae is one of the oldest plant organisms found on the whole planet. They play an important role in the marine food chain as well as producing many nutrients which are vital for human health. We have chosen an algae called Schizochytrium Sp which is well researched for safety.

Our algae is grown in a controlled environment which is 100% contaminant free. It’s grown in unpolluted fermentation pools which do not interfere with the marine ecosystem. The algae is then harvested and processed using gentle water extraction and pressing processes to obtain the purest Omega 3 oils. The purity of the algae is regularly monitored to ensure it contains no heavy metals, PCB or contaminants, unlike marine sources.

What is traceability and why does it matter?

Learn why knowing where your ingredients come from isn’t just nice—it’s necessary.

Most brands don’t tell you where their ingredients come from—or if they’re even effective. We trace every ingredient for quality, source, and absorption, so you’re never in the dark about what you’re taking.

What do you leave out?

Our supplements are made without these all-too-common ingredients because we believe they belong nowhere near your wellness routine.
